One of the biggest issues with SEO is velocity. What I mean is, maintaining a steady pace at which you build links to your website. It is vital that if you decide to (and you should) partake in Social Media, Blogging, or any other form of link building that requires data input, that you keep up with it. We typically suggest fresh content every 72 hours, but in many cases, that just isn’t realistic. If you are a smaller company, you may not have someone who is available to produce content at this rate. When it comes to these resources, don’t bite off more than you can chew. If you can only blog once a week…once a month, then be sure that you can keep up this pace for the remainder of your campaign. Ceasing this output could, very potentially, look to Google like your business died and Google doesn’t want to rank dying businesses. If, for example, you decide to write a new blog 3 times a week and at the end of 4 months you decide that you can’t support this volume then hire someone to manage your blogging for you. Google looks for the human touch in Social Media and blogging. They look to rank websites whose webmasters take an active interest in maintaining fresh content and those who play an active role in their online presence. I realize that this may seem like a very dumb conversation and it very well may be, that is, until your website rankings drop.
I’ve said this before, but I will say it again, treating your marketing campaign like it is, “hot news” is going to be your best bet! Providing your visitors with interesting and fresh content, building links to your website at a steady pace, posting news to your Social Media profiles and promoting yourself whenever and wherever you can is what it will take to have a stable and successful campaign. If managing this seems like a daunting task, consider hiring someone to handle it for you. SEOhaus would be happy to assist!
